Chip & electronics

Signal integrity in a crowded space.

Board-level, RF and cable connections for semiconductor equipment, test and measurement and electronic devices — where interference cannot simply be filtered away.

Three fields

Where the signal has to arrive intact.

When a signal degrades, the question is whether it’s the cable, the connector or the shielding — and the answer is in the design.

Where Belko fits

Eight places on the board where the connection decides.

From the connector on the PCB to the cable leaving the device — each one is a starting point in the Belko range.

Numbered: what this photograph shows. The other areas sit elsewhere in the same device.

Application areas

Wire & ribbon

02

Single wire, ribbon and multi-conductor cable inside the device.

Termination

03

Crimp, solder and IDC — and the tools that make it repeatable.

RF & coax

05

SMA, SMB, MCX and MMCX connectors and coax for RF links.

EMC & shielding

06

Foil, braid or both — chosen for frequency, length and termination.

Test & measurement

07

Test cables, adapters, attenuators and terminations.

Board connectors

01

D-Sub, RF and rectangular PCB connectors — through-hole, press-fit, SMT.

PCB interface

04

Footprint, pitch and mounting type decide the connector.

Industry challenges

What electronics ask of a connection.

These rule out whole product families at once — so they come before the part number.

  • Signal integrity

Every connector and every metre of cable is part of the signal path — and every one adds loss.

  • EMC & interference

In a crowded environment interference cannot simply be filtered away: it is decided by the shield and its termination.

  • Miniaturisation

More signals in less space: pitch, contact density and mounting type decide the connector.

  • Frequency & loss

At RF, cable type, length and connector quality decide how much of the signal arrives.

  • Board mounting

Through-hole, press-fit or SMT: the assembly process of the board narrows the choice.

  • Repeatable termination

Crimp, solder or IDC — done the same way every time, and electronically tested.

  • Temperature

Inside a device and near power electronics, cable and connector both have to cover the full range.

  • Availability & alternatives

When a component is discontinued or scarce, a comparable alternative keeps production going.

Technical expertise

Why electronics engineers choose Belko

  1. 01

    Board-level to system

Around 11,800 articles — connectors, RF, cable, accessories and tooling — including Telegärtner and FCT, a Molex company.

  2. 02

    Support with product selection

Start from the signal and the space rather than the part number. A specialist compares the alternatives with you.

  3. 03

    Access to specialist manufacturers

Belko sources components worldwide. If it isn’t in the catalogue, we go and find it.

  4. 04

    Engineering in the design phase

Engineers think along early, identify bottlenecks and propose improvements — before the layout is fixed.

  5. 05

    Assemblies built in-house

Single wire, multi-conductor, ribbon and coax — crimped, soldered, braided and electronically tested.

  6. 06

    From selection to supply

Purchasing, sourcing and logistics handled from your enquiry on — with just-in-time stock control and vendor managed inventory.

Search & advice

Looking for a connection that keeps the signal clean?

Search the technical catalogue by part number, type or property — or describe what happens to the signal; a specialist works from there.

Engineering questions

Frequently asked engineering questions

Can Belko help with shielding and EMC requirements?

Yes. Shielding is a design question Belko's engineers take part in: foil, braid and combined shields behave differently, and the right choice depends on the frequencies involved, the length of the run and how the shield is terminated. Electrical and mechanical requirements are part of design support, which is where the cable, the connector and the termination are chosen together rather than one at a time.

Foil, braid or both?
What is the difference between cable and wire?

A wire is a single conductor, with or without insulation. A cable is two or more conductors run together inside a shared construction — usually twisted or laid up, often shielded, and always with an outer jacket. The distinction matters when you are specifying: a cable carries properties a wire does not have, including the lay-up, the shield and the jacket that has to survive the environment.

Cable or wire?
How do I find the right connector for my application?

Start from the environment rather than the part number. Temperature, vibration, sealing, electromagnetic interference and expected service life narrow the field faster than a catalogue search does, because they rule out whole families at once. Work through the three questions on this page to land in the right category, then have a specialist confirm the selection against your drawing or specification before you order.

Start with your application
Can Belko help find an alternative for an existing connector?

Yes. Comparing alternatives is part of product selection at Belko, and components that are not in the catalogue are sourced worldwide. Bring the part number you are replacing and, if you have it, the reason you are replacing it — an end-of-life notice, a delivery problem or a requirement that changed. The reason usually decides which properties of the original actually have to be matched.

Ask a specialist
Can Belko supply custom cable assemblies?

Yes. Belko assembles single wire, multi-conductor cable, ribbon and coax — crimped by hand and by press, soldered, braided, twisted, overmoulded and electronically tested, from prototype through to series production. If you would rather start than call, the cable assembly configurator collects what you already know in seven short steps and a specialist completes the technical configuration from there.
