Medical technology

Connections that are provably right.

Compact connectors, cable and tested assemblies for diagnostic, monitoring, imaging and laboratory equipment — where every assembly has to be identical.

Three fields

Where a connection has to be provably right.

Not only does the connection have to work — you have to be able to prove that every assembly is identical and tested.

Where Belko fits

Eight places in the equipment where the connection decides.

From the connector on the front panel to the assembly inside — each one is a starting point in the Belko range.

Application areas

Patient-side cable

02

Flexible cable, with a jacket chosen for handling and cleaning agents.

Traceability & testing

06

Provably identical assemblies: consistency and electronic testing.

Internal wiring

07

Single wire, multi-conductor, ribbon and coax inside the equipment.

Custom cable assemblies

08

Assemblies to your drawing, tested — prototype to series.

Signal & data integrity

05

Measurement data that arrives undisturbed: shielding and termination.

Housing entries

04

Grommets and sealed connectors where cable passes the housing.

Front-panel connectors

01

Compact circular and push-pull connectors, mated every day.

Sensor connections

03

Low-level sensor signals, with a shield matched to the run.

Industry challenges

What medical equipment asks of a connection.

These decide the connector, the cable and how the assembly is built and documented.

  • Traceability

You have to be able to show which parts went into which assembly.

  • Consistent quality

Every assembly has to be identical to the one before it — from prototype to series.

  • Electronic testing

Assemblies are electronically tested, so the test is part of the specification.

  • Compact connections

Equipment gets smaller while the number of signals grows: contact density and size decide the connector.

  • Signal integrity & EMC

Low-level signals next to power and electronics: the shield and its termination decide what reaches the measurement.

  • Handling & mating

Connectors that are plugged every day need a lock that is easy to operate and a cable that is supported close to the connector.

  • Cleaning agents

Cleaning agents narrow the choice of jacket and seal material to what withstands them.

  • Availability over the product life

Medical equipment is built for years. Supply, and an alternative when a part is discontinued, belong in the plan.

Technical expertise

Why medical equipment makers choose Belko

  1. 01

    A broad technical portfolio

Around 11,800 articles — connectors, cable, accessories, enclosures and tooling — including Telegärtner and FCT, a Molex company.

  2. 02

    Support with product selection

Start from the equipment and its requirements rather than the part number. A specialist compares the alternatives with you.

  3. 03

    Access to specialist manufacturers

Belko sources components worldwide. If it isn’t in the catalogue, we go and find it.

  4. 04

    Engineering in the design phase

Engineers think along early, identify bottlenecks and propose improvements — before the design is fixed.

  5. 05

    Assemblies built and tested in-house

Crimped, soldered, braided, overmoulded and electronically tested on Schleuniger, Komax and GWL equipment.

  6. 06

    Supply over the product life

Purchasing, sourcing and logistics handled from your enquiry on — with just-in-time stock control and vendor managed inventory.

Engineering questions

Frequently asked engineering questions

Can Belko supply custom cable assemblies?

Yes. Belko assembles single wire, multi-conductor cable, ribbon and coax — crimped by hand and by press, soldered, braided, twisted, overmoulded and electronically tested, from prototype through to series production. If you would rather start than call, the cable assembly configurator collects what you already know in seven short steps and a specialist completes the technical configuration from there.

What information should I send when I ask for technical advice?

A description of the application is enough to start — you do not need a part number. What speeds it up is the environment the connection sits in, what it has to connect, the quantity you need now and the quantity you might need later, and a drawing, datasheet or photograph if you have one. An attachment usually saves a round trip. Your question reaches a technical specialist, not a form inbox.

Tell us what you're looking for
Can Belko help with shielding and EMC requirements?

Yes. Shielding is a design question Belko's engineers take part in: foil, braid and combined shields behave differently, and the right choice depends on the frequencies involved, the length of the run and how the shield is terminated. Electrical and mechanical requirements are part of design support, which is where the cable, the connector and the termination are chosen together rather than one at a time.

Foil, braid or both?
How do I find the right connector for my application?

Start from the environment rather than the part number. Temperature, vibration, sealing, electromagnetic interference and expected service life narrow the field faster than a catalogue search does, because they rule out whole families at once. Work through the three questions on this page to land in the right category, then have a specialist confirm the selection against your drawing or specification before you order.

Start with your application
Can Belko help find an alternative for an existing connector?

Yes. Comparing alternatives is part of product selection at Belko, and components that are not in the catalogue are sourced worldwide. Bring the part number you are replacing and, if you have it, the reason you are replacing it — an end-of-life notice, a delivery problem or a requirement that changed. The reason usually decides which properties of the original actually have to be matched.
